Whether he is recalling the horrific 1950s drought in Texas, explaining the nuances
of cowboy etiquette, reminiscing about a favorite horse or taking verbal pokes at
city slickers, Jim Robinson's "Memoirs of a Texas Cowboy" is a fascinating and
original insight into the life of a rugged, real-life cowboy. It's people like Robinson
who make America a special place.

5.0 out of 5 stars An authentic ranch voiceMarch 5, 2010

For an authentic look at a working rancher in the Texas Panhandle, it's hard to
beat Jim Robinson's "Memoirs of a Texas Cowboy." With humor and charm, he
describes the sense of freedom that comes from living and working out on the
wide-open range. He also includes some aggravating aspects of ranch life that
discourage all but the most dedicated from pursuing his austere calling. With
genuine cow camp lingo, the writer creates an indelible panorama that will amuse,
inform and impress readers about a fading American scene.

This review is from: Memoirs of a Texas Cowboy (Paperback)Living in the same area
as the author, and growing up knowing many of the characters and stories in the
book (including the author!), this was a pleasure to read. Written by a man who is
truly a Texas Panhandle cowman - who's been there and done that - has finally
written down these stories, all spoken in the language of every day life on the
ranch! I certainly hope Jim writes more - Hat's off to you.
